The Bullis School athletes delivered a dominating performance in the 400m events at New Balance Nationals Indoor, sweeping both titles in a stunning showcase of speed, power, and determination.
On the boys' side, Quincy Wilson continued to solidify his reputation as one of the top 400m sprinters in high school history. With a time of 45.71, Wilson not only won the race but also broke his own meet record of 45.76 set last year. The race unfolded with Wilson tied for first place after 200m, but he surged ahead with a commanding 300m split that put him in a strong lead. As the race neared its end, Andrew Salvodon, who had stunned the track world with his 500m national record earlier this season, mounted a fierce challenge, closing in on Wilson coming around the last turn and into the final stretch. However, Wilson's strong finish held off Salvodon's charge, securing the win and reaffirming his dominance. His 45.71 clocking is now the second-fastest time in high school history, just behind his national record of 45.66. Salvodon's 45.84, which ranks as the U.S. #2 time for the season, is the fourth-fastest time in history, further showcasing the caliber of competition Wilson faced.

Meanwhile, the Bullis dominance continued on the girls' side, with Sydney Sutton emerging victorious in the 400m in 52.75. Sutton's performance was nothing short of spectacular as she claimed the win after running a blistering 24.16 split in the first 200m. Her opening speed set her up for a strong finish, and despite the efforts of the other contenders, Sutton's time stood as the fastest of the day. Her 52.75 not only gave her the victory but also earned her a new U.S. #1 ranking for the season, in addition to the #9 time all-time in high school history. Additionally, she also broke the meet record of 53.02 set by Faith Franklin last year. Sutton's victory in the 400m was a fitting conclusion to an impressive season, as she demonstrated both her raw speed and her ability to maintain her performance through the final stretch.
