Maryland's freshman class enters high school competition having already produced strong middle school marks across the 100m, 200m, and 400m. There's lots of upside in this group!
Top Incoming Sprinters:
Autumn Gaskins (Bishop McNamara):
No other sprinter in this class covers all three events the way Gaskins does. She leads the 200m at 26.20, tops the 100m at 12.66, and sits second in the 400m at 1:02.65.
Basileus Oshegbo (McDonogh School):
The speed is real. Oshegbo ranks second in both the 100m (10.78) and 200m (22.05), putting him among the fastest short sprinters in the entire class.
Powers leads the 400m at 1:02.63, ranks second in the 200m at 27.10, and sits top five in the 100m at 13.31, making Powers one of the more well-rounded Marylanders in the class.
Coming in at third in the 100m (11.21), fourth in the 200m (23.40), third in the 400m (53.12), Wrenn doesn't have a weak event.
Simpson ranks highly on all three lists, sitting in fourth in the 200m (27.25), third in the 400m (1:02.91), and in the top five in the 100m (13.31).
Kelechi Anyanwu (Westlake):
Anyanwu's 48.52 leads the 400m field and separates him from everyone else in the event. That mark alone makes him among the more compelling long sprint prospects in this class--he can make a state-level impact at this distance as a freshman.
Arrington holds top-five marks in both the 100m (12.85) and 200m (27.63) and brings 400m experience at 1:11.35.
Sealey's sprint profile spans all three distances, but his strongest distance looks to be the 400m, where he's ranked No. 4 with a mark of 54.02.
Marshall ranks sixth in the 200m (27.66), fifth in the 400m (1:04.21), and ninth in the 100m (13.69).
