Maryland's 2025 outdoor season was defined by athletes who showed up at the biggest moments. From the MPSSAA State Championships to national-level meets, sprinters and hurdlers across the state left their mark when it mattered most.
Here's a look at ten who stood out among the contenders!

Top Returning Sprinters & Hurdlers:
Destiny Coleman (Woodlawn, 2026):
Coleman's 13.25 in the 100m hurdles leads all returning girls in the state, but she also posted impressive marks of 11.75 in the 100m and 42.88 in the 300m hurdles. Three events, three elite marks, and no clear weakness across the sprints and hurdles.
Quincy Wilson (Bullis, 2026):
Wilson's 44.10 in the 400m is the fastest mark among all returning boys in the state and the country. The quarter-mile national record holder also owns a PB of 21.13 in the 200m, which only adds to his dominant range. As Wilson embarks on his final high school season before becoming a Maryland Terrapin, all eyes will be on him.
Kennedy Brown (Bullis, 2027):
Brown's 53.47 in the 400m leads all returning girls in the state, and she backed it with a 24.00 in the 200m and 11.82 in the 100m.
Thomas posted a 14.16 in the 110m hurdles and a 38.04 in the 300m hurdles a year ago, the two strongest hurdles marks among all returning boys in the state.
Kassidy Hopkins (Bullis, 2026):
Hopkins ran 41.63 in the 300m hurdles and 13.37 in the 100m hurdles, and also posted elite marks in the 100m.
Christian Doss (Crofton, 2027):
Doss clocked a 14.31 in the 110m hurdles and a 38.19 in the 300m hurdles, making him a top returning hurdler in the state with two more seasons of high school competition ahead of him.
Alexandra Collier (Archbishop Spalding, 2026):
Collier's 23.52 PB in the 200m is the fastest mark among all returning girls in the state, and her 55.96 in the 400m shows she has range and the potential to be a threat in either event.
Cameron Homer (Bullis, 2027):
Samantha Amauwa (Franklin, 2027):
Amauwa's 11.84 in the 100m and 24.35 in the 200m make her arguably the most consistent returning sprinter among girls in the state. Both marks hold up at the top level, and she has another season to push them further as she enters her junior year.
