After a month long winter break, the Johns Hopkins men's track team took a trip to the New York City Armory to compete in the NYU Gotham Open.
The Blue Jays used this meet as preparation for the Centennial Conference championship meet just six weeks away.
Freshman Mike Spadaro's triple jump of 13.41 meters (44') gained him second place in the unseeded section of that event while classmate Alex Naticchia's heat victory of 51.56 in the unseeded 400 meter dash moved him up to eighth on the Hopkins indoor best list.
Freshman John Corbett notched a 2:36.92 1000 meter run for fifth on the JHU list as Jared Beekman moved to seventh in the 500-meter run with a time of 70.24.Andrew Carey won an unseeded section of the 800-meter run in 1:59.37.
Senior Luke Sand was seventh in the seeded section of the shot put with a conference-leading throw of 14.21 meters (46'7-1/2"). Ryan Walsh is now leading the conference n the high jump after hitting the 1.86 (6'1-1/4") mark Friday afternoon.
The Blue Jays return to action next week when they head to Maryland University to compete in the Terrapin Invitational next Saturday.
