Cross Country's Season Wraps Up; Three Teams Remain Undefeated - IAAM Sports Oct 23, 2012

The Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) is an organization consisting of 30 private and parochial schools in and around the Baltimore Metro area, including five counties and Baltimore City, which participate in girls' interscholastic sports. The IAAM oversees over 400 varsity and junior varsity teams in 14 sports, with over 8,000 young women having the opportunity to participate in sanctioned athletic programs. (via www.iaamsports.com)

Girls Athlete of the Week: Ellie Gonzalez, Catholic, cross country Nov 13, 2012

The standout junior captured her second straight Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland cross country championship on Nov. 5, finishing in 18 minutes, 19 seconds for a comfortable 40-second win over runner-up Hannah Mansbach of Glenelg Country. As a sophomore last year, Gonzalez emerged as one of the area's finest distance runners. Last season, she set a meet record with a time of 17 minutes, 59 seconds to win her first IAAM cross country title. She followed that with conference championships in the 1600- and 320-meter races in both the indoor and outdoor track seasons. Last year, she earned All-Metro first-team honors in all three seasons.
