Meet Information
Coaches:
You have indicated through Athletic.net, or direct contact with me that you plan to attend the 2016 Lanham Rebel Relays on 4/22/16 at 3:30 p.m. The Rebel Relays are the longest continuous high school relays run in Western Maryland. They began in 1978. They were begun as a means to give the athletes a last chance to have some competitive fun and give the less talented athlete a chance to be involved before the drive for the county, league, region and state championships start. Some of the events are different in order, length, and composition than other meets or relays you may have been involved with, in the past. No unfair advantages are given or taken for this event. Sanctioning by MPSSAA for this meet is no longer required under the new state guidelines.
The meet will be scored six (6) places; 10,8,6,4,2,1. Scoring may change depending on the total number of teams entered in the meet per NFHS and State rules.
Our track is marked in accordance with the NFHS Track and Field and Cross Country rule book (with correct colors and zones).
The Field Events will be scored as a relay also with the best throw or jump of your team members added for their score. Three (3) throws or jumps in the long, triple jump, shot put and discus. You will be allowed two (2) entries in each field event.
The FIELD EVENTS will start at 3:30 and the RUNNING EVENTS will begin at 4:30. Also at 3:30 we will run JV 4x800 and JV 4x100 relays. You will be allowed two JV relay teams per gender. Coaches will be responsible for timing JV relays.

3200 Meter Relay (4x 800m)
400 Meter Relay (4x 100m)
Harrison Lanham 1600 Meter Relay (4x400m)
Medals for first place teams will be awarded. Ribbons will be awarded for 2nd through 6th place finishers. Trophies will be awarded to the winning boys and girls teams.
* The Shuttle Hurdle Relay will be ALL hurdlers. Team hurdlers #1 and #3 will begin at the FINISHLINE. Team hurdlers #2 and #4 will begin at the normal starting line for their part of the race.
The TEAM hurdles will be placed in adjoining lanes in opposite directions (side by side). A team will occupy Lane 1 starting from the Finish Line. The second hurdler will come back in adjoining Lane 2 from the normal starting line. The third hurdler will come back in Lane 1 from the finish line The fourth hurdler will come back in his Lane 2 to finish the race at the FINISHLINE.
*****Be aware that runners in LANES# 1and #3 will be running nontraditional distances to the first hurdle. Being coaches, I know the adjustment of the athletes blocks for the proper approach steps will be easy for you. By having to use four athletes to hurdle this gives more kids a chance to be in a big meet and contribute to your team.
If you have not sent your check to our school please remind your Athletic Director to do so. The entry fee is $250 per boys/girls team ($125 for boys or girls).
Please have your team sit on the visitors bleachers OR have your team on the home side AWAY from the FINISHLINE at least one section of bleachers from the finish line. The restricted finish line area will be sectioned off with tape.
The stadium infield will be cleared of any non participating athletes and coaches before the running events start at 4:30 and remain so until the meet is over. This will ensure better management for the clerk. Also the fans can enjoy the meet a lot more.
At the conclusion of the varsity completion, we will run two JV sections of 4X400m. Relays of both girls and boys each.
We will be using FAT for this meet. Entries will be submitted on athletic.net. Entries are due by 4/18/16 at midnight.
The South Hagerstown High Booster Club will be handling concessions.
Custom t-shirts will also be sold.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
