Maryland XC Weekend Rundown: The Final Invites Before Championship Season!

Consortia Championships

October 17, 2015 @ Northwood Chesapeake Bay Trail in Silver Spring, MD

Meet Recap: A runner-up one year ago on his home course, Northwood's Michael Abebe won this year's Consortia Championships in a time of 16:35. Abebe was able to separate in the final two miles from Albert Einstein senior Ajeandro Arias (2nd, 16:52) for a 17 second margin of victory.

Arias was able to lead the Einstein boys to the team title with 5 finishers among the top 20 places for a winning team score of 48 points.

Paint Branch's Bethlehem Taye came in as a race favorite, but Einstein's Ciciely Davy had actually built a lead on the defending 4A state outdoor 3200 champ until late in the race when Taye roared back to seize the lead and the win in a new course record time of 19:26. Davy would finish with a respectable runner-up time of 19:38 on the challenging 5K course.

The Montgomery Blair girls (46 pts) came out on top in a close team battle with the Paint Branch girls (49 pts) as they put 5 runners in the top 15 places and all under 22 minutes.
