Northampton Invitational (PA)
September 05, 2015 @ Northampton Area 5k in Northampton, PA
The MD #2 ranked and 3-time 4A state champion Severna Park boys did a number on the competition in Pennsylvania on Saturday at the Northampton Invitational winning with a dual meet like score of 27 points averaging 16:08 as a squad on the 5K course.
Severna Park was led by once again seniors Andrew Forsyth and Joshua Tucker, who paired up to go 1-2 individually in the race and improve upon their scrimmage times a few weeks ago against River Hill drastically with the fastest two times in the state of Maryland as of now. Forsyth won in a cross country 5K PR of 15:28 (ran sub 15:20 on track last spring for 5K), while Tucker knocked about 20 seconds off his previous best time from NXN Southeast in a 15:35 runner-up effort.
Severna Park had two more runners among the top 6 places and under 16:30 in Kasey Gelfand (4th, 16:11) and Spencer Davis (6th, 16:24). Matt Cambon rounded out the team's scoring five in 14th place at 16:58.
Their next seven runners ran very well down at the Seahawk Invitational, so it remains to be see who ends up filling out the back half of their top seven this fall, but their front four looked formidable including top three under the old course record.
