Rain was the main topic of the day throughout the state on this day. At the spiked shoe the rain and course really had an affect on the main races. One of the big things that made the course bad was that the A races were the last of the day, and by the time these 2 races went off the course was in horrible conditions.
In the boys race Duplinsky of Georgetown Prep and Ricky Flynn of Damascus went out and took command early in the race. Duplinsky opened a gap early in the race only to be overtaken in the last mile by Flynn. In the team competition Oakton, Va continue its winning ways in Maryland. Oakton which won the Peter Gerahty Invite last week claimed Spiked Shoe with a 76 to 114 win over C. Milton Wright. Georgetown Prep, Damascus, and Winston Churchill rounded out the top 5 teams.
In the girls race Kelli Buck and Megan Ravenscraft of C. Milton Wright got away early and were never really challenged. Freshman Allison Barnes of C. Milton Wright surprised alot of people were her 3rd place finish. The team competition came down to C. Milton Wright and Oakton. Wright prevailed with a 39 to 55 point win.
