The North Point girls 4x800 meter relay ran the second fastest time in the state on Monday at the Sportsplex Relays with a 9:54.28 performance. Their team features two great talents in middle distance runner Valencia McDowell and distance runner Rachel Nueslein. The North Point girls were also relay winners in the DMR (13:33.81) and 4x400 (4:11.79).
The Tuscarora boys won the 4x800 meter relay with a MD #4 performance of 8:31.21 as Gavin Prather anchored their relay and has been having a strong first month of races in indoor.
The Urbana girls (1:48.15) just edged out a DC squad from Eastern (1:48.50) in the 4x200 meter relay with both teams dipping under 1:50 along with third place Tuscarora (1:49.97).
High jump state leader Felicia Clements of Middletown won the girls high jump at a height of 5'4". Clements had cleared a state best 5'6" height just this past Friday at the Dwight Scott Invite.
The Westlake boys were dominant in the sprint relays taking first in the 4x200 (1:33.78) and 4x400 (3:36.32), while actually going 1-2 in the 4x200 with their "B" squad taking second place as well.
One of the closest finishes of the night came in the girls SMR with Reilly Caldwell able to anchor the Middletown girls to narrow victory over Tuscarora by 25 hundredths of a second in a 4:32.01 overall time.
