College coaches don't need to venture far to recruit the fastest boys in the state of Maryland after watching a meet at the Prince George's County Sports & Learning Center in Landover, Maryland.
Many of the top seniors performers can be found right in Prince George's County including Suitland's Nikolas Thomas and Bowie's Tajh Gilchrist, who have some of the top times among the class of 2016 in the state with Thomas a class leader in the 500 (1:05.88) and 800 (1:59.78), while Gilchrist has the best time in the 300 (35.42) and second fastest in the 55 (6.47) among seniors.
Gilchrist is second fastest in the 55 only to another senior from a Prince George's County school in Brian Nelson (6.43) of CH Flowers. Don't forget about the jumps too with Devin Butler of Frederick Douglass, who has been reaching for marks at the back end of the pit every meet at PG as the leading leaper in both the long jump (22'1.50") and triple jump (47'4") for seniors.
