There was some discussion and clear concern over the last two weeks that the 2016 Montgomery County Invitational would not be happing next weekend at the Prince George's County Sportsplex in Landover as a potential Saturday playoff game for the Washington Redskins at adjacent Fedex Field would certainly force one of Maryland's best annual indoor high school track meets to be cancelled. No events happen at PG Sportsplex happen on the day of a Redskins home game.
Thankfully, the NFL playoff schedule was released late Sunday night after the final regular season game was played between the Packers and Vikings to determine the playoff teams seeding and the Redskins will now play in a Sunday afternoon game at 4:40 PM meaning the Montgomery County Invitational is on as scheduled on Saturday, January 9th!
