Jamila Brown's Big Chance: Jamila Brown has been one of the better sprinters in the 3A classification for quite some time; she's often come very close to a state title, but has yet to claim her first. She's finished in the top five eight times - five of those times, she's finished second. This season she has a chance to finally break through that barrier and capture that elusive championship. She leads 3A girls in the 55 dash with a time of 7.21 and hasn't lost to a 3A girl since early December. She'll be going up against Jaida Smith, who has had quite the season of her own, and Asha Washington, the only 3A girl to beat her in a 55 dash this season.
Brown is also one of the frontrunners in the 3A girls 300, after a big PR at the 3A East Regional Championships. Standing in her way will be Camryn Blake, who is undefeated in the 300 against Maryland competition not named Stephanie Davis this indoor season. The two girls are the only ones this season in the 3A classification to have broken the 41 second mark in the 300. In both sprint races Brown will certainly be one of the contenders, and the fact that this is her last indoor state championship may be all the motivation she needs to go out and capture a title.
