Mid-Atlantic Running Camp Registration Now Open

The Mid-Atlantic Running Camp, which the former Harford Running Camp, is now open for online registration. Brochures will be made available by the end of January. If you would like a brochure mailed to you, please email dmickey@mdrunning.net

The camp is open to any runner, there will be an adult section, and a high school section. Coaches if you get 5 runners from your team to attend you may come for free. The costs is currently $350 up until the end of February. It will then be raised to $400. A team that has 5 members sign up will only be charged a team rate of $325. The Camp will run from June 29, 2004 until July 2, 2004. The camp is being held at Camp Ramblewood, a secluded camp in Darlington, Md.

The camp is directed by current American University Coach Matt Centrowitz, current C. Milton Wright High School Coach Donnie Mickey, and current Dulaney High School Coach Chad Boyle. Centrowitz, a 2-time Olympian and former American record holder for 5000 meters has brought American Unversity to a National Prominence. Mickey and Boyle both successful high school coaches in Maryland, were the former directors of the Harford Running Camp for 11 years.

The camp is designed to be the start of a successful training summer. At camp the campers will do a variety of training runs which may include long runs, intervals, hill workouts, fartlek runs, lactate training, and easy runs of various distance. There will also be quest speakers, form evaluation, lectures on race tatics, training, nutrition, and what to look for in a college.

The staff at the Mid-Atlantic Running camp will be comprised of college coaches, high school coaches, former and current high school and college standout runners, and current Olympic trial qualifiers. The camper to staff ratio will not exceed 10 to 1 at anytime, in most cases it will be less than that.
