Check out the top 500 junior girls cross country 5K times in the state of Maryland as of September 19th in the MileSplit database. Paint Branch's Yasmine Kass was just one of many girls in the class of 2018 to crack the 20:00 mark for the first time this season last weekend. She finished fifth at the Barnhart Invitational with a new personal best of 19:04.87, leading her team to a seventh-place finish.
Walter Johnson's Abigail Green once again showed why she's one of the best runners in the state, finishing second in the varsity A race at the Oatlands Invitational. Her time of 17:54.70 still leads the entire state regardless of classification. Meanwhile, Northern-Calvert's Abby Sweeney continues to show a solid transition from the track to the course for the first time in 2016, as she has become one of the team's top runners and has helped cover the loss of Adrianna Wilder.
