Last weekend, Poolesville sophomore Nandini Satsangi won her first invitational cross country race at the Urbana Invitational. She must have enjoyed it, because she came back this Saturday and won again, this time at Williamsport's Wildcat Invitational. Satsangi's teammate, freshman Logan Rohde, finished second. That duo was not strong enough, however, to give Poolesville the team victory, as the Winters Mill girls were the only team to put three finishers in the top and won with 64 points. Poolesville was second with 73 points. The Boonsboro girls, the top-ranked 1A girls team so far this season, finished third at 88 points.

Over in the boys race, Smithsburg's Will Merritt continued his winning race, pacing the field to a 16:19.10 victory. That time set a new meet record - granted, the meet is only three years old - but he did beat South Hagerstown alum Darren Harman's time from last season. His only non-win this season came in a sixth-place finish at the Oatlands Invitational. The Poolesville duo of Ryan Lockett and Andrew Lent had another good day, finishing 2-3 and leading the Poolesville boys to a third-place finish. Liberty's Nick Tilson didn't pick up the win this time, but he did lead them to their second straight team victory.
