Vote below for Maryland's Week #8 Boys XC Runner of the Week from the October 22nd week of meets. This week's batch of nominees includes Gilman's Eric Gibson, Towson's Jonathan Ellis, Linganore's Micah Hewitson, Richard Montgomery's Rohann Asfaw and Eleanor Roosevelt's Edward Belsoi.

Roosevelt senior Edward Belsoi kicked off a busy week in Maryland by winning the Prince George's County Championships at Fort Washington Park. Even running with a bloody foot, Belsoi was clearly the best runner in the race, dropping a season-best 16:45.93 and winning by over 45 seconds. The next day, Linganore's Micah Hewitson captured his second straight Frederick County cross country title, navigating the difficult Woodsboro Park course in 17:00. Hewitson led from the beginning and never looked back, and his teammate Michael Belmaggio surged to a second-place finish.

On Saturday it was Rohann Asfaw's turn to defend his 2015 county title. He slowly pulled away from the deep field at the Montgomery County Championships, winning in 15:33 and coming within 10 seconds of Chase Weaverling's course record. He remained undefeated against Maryland competition on the season, something only he and Dalton Hengst have done so far this season. Up in Timonium, Towson's Jonathan Ellis outdueled Dulaney's Matt Owens for the fourth time on the season to capture the Baltimore County Championships. It was the first major cross country win of his career, coming in what will probably be one of his final three or four races of his high school career.

Back down in Montgomery County, Charles E. Smith's Reuben Winston won the seeded race at the Georgetown Prep Classic, but it was Gilman's Eric Gibson who posted the fastest time of the day, winning the unseeded race in 17:26.

Voting closes at 10 PM on Thursday! Voting is unlimited and feel free to share with your coaches, family, friends, teammates, teachers, and more!
