Rewind The Tapes: Russell Clocks MD #1 500 Despite Dealing With Injury

In case you haven't picked up on the theme from the first few 2015-16 highlights last year's Montgomery Invitational featured some of the best races in the state. Bullis' Masai Russell and Nyari McNeil - both sophomores - clocked the two fastest times in the state in the girls 500 meters, both of which would stand throughout the rest of the winter. At the time, Russell's performance of 1:13.72 was the US #1 mark and it would finish the indoor season at #5 in the country. Russell's win was even more impressive considering she had been training around and competing through an injury that left her unable to do most track workouts in preparation for her outstanding performance. The two have yet to go head-to-head since but should have opportunities in the coming seasons. If you didn't see the race live now is your chance!
