Masai Russell (Bullis) 500, 4x200
After clocking a MD #1 in the 500 as a sophomore last year Russell has yet to make her debut in the event this indoor season. That will change this weekend, however, as she is seeded third in the Invitational 500 at the Virginia Showcase. She will have excellent competition with Grassfield's Lauryn Ghee (1:11.78 personal best) and Rush Henrietta's Sammy Watson (52.69 400 personal best) among a whole bunch of other names, including current MD #1 500 runner Cameron Hinton.
Russell will also be joining Seymour on the Bullis girls' 'A' team 4x200 this weekend that could become just the sixth team since 2000 (as per the MileSplit database) to dip under 1:40 in the 4x200. The record in the database is held by Eleanor Roosevelt whose 4x200 relay ran 1:38.15 in 2009.
