Perhaps nobody benefited more from the rain on Thursday night than Kent Island's Brandon Nichols, who got some unexpected rest for the 3200. With favorable early-morning temperatures and a solid, competitive field, Nichols turned in the best race of his career, lowering his personal best by nearly 30 seconds en route to a second-place finish. Next year's 2A 3200 should be a great race, considering that five of the top six finishers this year were underclassmen.
