Two years ago, Patuxent's Hayley Jackson became the first girl to break the sub-5:00 barrier in the girls mile in the history of the Montgomery Invitational. This year, there may be up to three candidates to break Jackson's meet record. Tatnall's Keelin Hays ran 4:55.89 in the 1600 as a sophomore last spring, Walter Johnson's Abigail Green ran 4:59.06 at the Sportsplex last February in the state championships, and Mount de Sales' Samantha Facius broke the barrier last spring at the Gator Invitational. With the right race conditions there may be not just one record, but two or three girls knocking on the door for an all-time mark this Saturday.
