The first weekend of May got us closer to the Maryland postseason, with a lot of local talent heading to Morgan State University in Baltimore for the Puma East Coast International Showcase.
Many of the state's best notched PBs, SBs, and historic marks, and these four underclassmen joined in on the fun both at MSU and at other respective meets across the "Old Line State".
Check out May's first quartet of Future Stars!

The top 400m mark in the state this season belongs to Arrendell, whose 53.19 at the Puma East Coast International Showcase leads all girls in Maryland regardless of class. She also ranks first in the 100m (11.27) and 200m (23.17) among all underclassmen, making her one of the most complete sprinters in the state.
Fifth in the state in the 1600m overall at 4:18.00, Aitken sits behind only four upperclassmen in the rankings - he ran that time at Maverick Madness 8 last week. He also ranks 11th in the 800m among all boys in Maryland at 1:55.86, and still has plenty of time to move up either list.
Ranked eighth in the state in the 100m at 11.93 and 10th in the 200m at 24.40, Mathis posted those marks at the Gar-Field Twilight Invitational last week. Both figures hold up against the full all-grades field, not just her class, making her one of the top fast-twitch underclassmen on the East Coast.
At 21.98 in the 200m, Cowsette ranks 37th in the state overall, but among freshmen and sophomores, that figure holds up as one of the top sprint marks in the class. His 11.15 in the 100m also places him among the faster underclassmen in Maryland this season. Cowsette clocked both times at the Puma East Coast International Showcase over the weekend.
