While most of the attention in the girls 1600 at the Howard County Winter Festival was focused on the race between Oakley Olson and Grace Siehler, Walter Johnson's Isabelle Senfaute came in not far behind in third place. She finished in the top 50 at the XC state championships for the second year in a row this fall, and after mainly focusing on hurdles last year, she could be another complementary piece on a Wildcats squad that already includes distance standouts Jenna Goldberg and Ella Gaul.

Since arriving at Laurel High School at the beginning of last year, Isaac Ojo has begun to climb the 4A hurdle leaderboards. He qualified for the state meet in the 110 meter hurdles last spring, placing fifth in the prelims of the event at the state championships. This year, his 7.89 performance from early in the season at the Ed Bowie Invitational leads all 4A competitors heading into January.
