This Decade in Review: Top 500 Girls in the Shot Put

Antonella Taylor was the only girl this decade to throw 45-plus feet in the shot put during the past decade of indoor track. In fact, she did it on five separate occasions, including at the 2012 4A indoor state championships where she won her second career state title. Over the course of her career, Taylor won four separate individual state titles, all in the shot put. However, perhaps her biggest win of her high school career came at the 2013 Penn Relays, when she threw 45'3.75 to beat out the rest of the field.

In 2017, two girls tripled the number of athletes who threw 44-plus feet at the indoor state meet during the decade. Urbana's Delia Sipe (above, the 3A champion) and Frederick Douglass' (PG) Seasons Usual (the 2A champion) both cleared the mark, joining Taylor as the only girls to reach the mark at indoor states. Both of their performances were indoor career bests that rank second and fourth, respectively, on the all-decade leaderboard.
