Noelle Foss, CMIT South: 7.28 in the 55 meter dash, 1st place

Last year's 1A indoor state runner-up in both the 55 and 300 meter dashes ran 7.28 in the local girls 55 meter dash, just one hundredth of a second behind her personal best of 7.27 from last season. No other girl in the event ran faster than 7.37.

Langston Major, Winston Churchill: 35.60 in the 300 meter dash, 2nd place

Major is in the midst of a junior-year breakout. Almost exactly one year ago at the 2020 Virginia Showcase, Major ran 37.67 in the 300 meter dash. He shaved over two full seconds off that time on Thursday in a runner-up effort behind our next candidate.

Sydney Peal, Bullis: 35.47 in the 300 meter dash, 1st place

Back in the 2018 indoor season, a freshman Sydney Peal ran 35.54 at the Virginia Showcase, finishing eighth. Now a senior, Peal opened the indoor season by besting that time in a winning performance in the local boys 300 meter dash. Peal also won the prelims of the local 55 meter dash with a 6.64 effort.

Tafari Stephenson, Bowie: 4:37.95 in the 1600 meter run, 4th place

Maryland's lone distance representative on day one, Stephenson set an indoor personal best in the 1600 meter run (and just one second off his overall personal best). A state qualifier in all three individual distance events last winter, Stephenson is the top returning distance runner in Prince George's County.
