Whittaker Hits USOT Standard in 800 at Virginia Showcase!

One of the greatest mid-distance runners in U.S. high school history has done it again.

On Saturday, Mount de Sales junior Juliette Whittaker lowered her 800 meter personal best to 2:02.07 with her performance at the Virginia Showcase. It's the third-fastest indoor time ever by a high school girl in the event.

The time also meets the 2:02.50 USATF Olympic Trials qualifying standard in the event (for reference, the  men's qualifying time in the 800 is 1:46.00).

It was also Whittaker's first track race in almost a calendar year. Last February Whittaker ran 2:03.01 at the Fastrack Last Chance Invitational in what would ultimately be the final race of her sophomore year. After a fall season that included a 17:29 5K performance at the Virginia Elite Invitational and a 16:45 three-mile personal best, Whittaker appears to be back in top form once again on the track.
