Smith is the number one returner for the 55 Meter Dash for the upcoming indoor season. He became the top returner after a solid 6.45 performance at the 2021 VA Showcase. Last indoor season, he was the second-best in the 55m event in Maryland, which was also the 14th fastest time in the nation. To add, he had the fourth-fastest 60m time in the state with 6.93 and the seventh-fastest 200m time of 22.37.

Brendon Wyatt - DeMatha Catholic

Wyatt is another competitor to look out for in the 55m event. He ranks second, right behind Smith, with 6.58. Last indoor season, he had the sixth-fastest 55m, as well as the 14th fastest 300m for Maryland runners.

Sims is a jack-of-all-trades. In the previous indoor season, he was ranked in the top 10 for at least four of Maryland's indoor events: 200m (22.16, 4th in MD); 300m (35.54, 4th in MD); 400m (50.02, 4th in MD); and 55m (6.68, 8th in MD). Now, he's moved up the ladder and is ranked even higher.

Beckford is a decorated athlete with multiple top 10 rankings over the past couple of years. Now a senior, Beckford continues a dominating streak in events such as the 300m and 200m. This could be Beckford's second year as the top 300m dash runner in the state. To add, in the state of Maryland, he boasted the third-fastest indoor 200m time, as well as the second-fastest outdoor 200m.

Antonio Sims - Riverdale Baptist

Once again, Sims makes a top 5 ranking in a sprinting event for the incoming track season. He trails behind Beckford with a 300m time of 35.54.

Langston Major - Winston Churchill

Major is a familiar face as he continues to be a top returner in more than one event. This time, he's ranked third in the 300m, close behind Sims, with a time of 35.60.

Talil Atkins - Ralph Durant Academy

Atkins is a likely challenger in the 300m event after having some very impressive rankings and times during the last indoor season. He was third in the state for the 500m event after a time of 1:06.55, which was 21st in the nation. He was also sixth in the state for the 300m, and is now ranked fourth.

Talil Atkins - Ralph Durant Academy

Atkins makes another appearance in a top 10 ranking. Previously, he was third in the state for the 500m event, and now he is ranked second, just less than a second away from top returner Otusajo.

Alonzo Sims - Riverdale Baptist

Sims is definitely an athlete to watch this season. For the 2021 indoor season, he was ranked fifth in the state for the 400m and 500m events. Now, he's ranked third in the 500m with a time of 1:08.37.
