The 3A meet kicked off with the girls 4x800 as one of the team title favorites, Howard, took home the win in a swift sub-10 performance at 9:59.64. The 300m girls soon followed as Lauryn Clarke of Damascus blew away the field in a time of 42.87, meanwhile, the Northern Calvert girls picked up 13 points in the event with Leah Powell and Kacie Hoyle scoring 2nd and 4th place respectively. The anticipated 1600m girls race then kicked off as Nimrit Ahuja and Ella Meccia (only a freshman!) battled it out with Ahuja barely out edging Meccia by a little over a second. Howard came out with 19 points from the event! Mikayla Moxley of Linganore threw down a quick time in the 500m of 1:20.38 taking home the win by over 2 seconds! The 55mh was dominated by Denisha Mclaurin of Woodlawn throughout the prelims and finals, while Janasia Buckner of River Hill took both the 55m prelims and finals. Elizabeth Pickett of Bel Air ended up narrowly ending about Meccia by less than two-tenths of a second in the 3200m, while Howard went 3, 5, and 6 to pick up 13 points in the event. Doubling back from her performance in the 55m, Buckner and her 4x200m squad took home the win over Damascus in an action-packed race. The battle of speed vs strength ensued as Moxley and Ahuja met up in the 800m. It was ultimately Moxley that put down a hard last couple laps to take home the victory in 2:21.12. Last but not least, the 4x400m was won by Springbrook in a time of 4:15.26 with Northern coming in 2nd at 4:17.98. The team battle ended up coming down to a 3-way battle between the Northern, Howard, and Linganore with ultimately Northern coming out to become your team champions with a grand total of 67 points, followed extremely closely behind by Howard and Linganore at 65 and 60.5 points respectively.
