MPSSAA State Meet Records Watch - BOYS

1A Boys

55m Dash - Brody Buffington (Catoctin) has already run well under the 1A record of 6.35 run by Tony Cole (Oakland Mills) in 2004. Buffington, who has run 6.25 will be eyeing the all-time record of 6.21 run by Justin Murdock (Glen Burnie) in 2007. He also might have something to prove after a pretty ridiculous DQ in the 300m at the 1A West Regional meet that received national attention.

500m Dash- Furious Trammel (Catoctin) and Cameron Rejonis (Smithsburg) have run 1:07.09 this year. The state record is 106.38 set by Justin McIntyre (Henry E Lackey) in 2019.

55m Hurdles - TaSean Dixon (Washington) ran 7.83 at his Regional Championship meet. He will be on a significantly faster track surface when running at the PG Sports and Learning Complex, compared to his regional meet at Snow Hill. The current record is 7.65 run by Aaron Hackett (Largo)

2A Boys

It might not be a question of which records Oakland Mills breaks this year, but how many?

55m Dash - Trevin Mchargh (Oakland Mills) has already run faster than the current record of 6.42 by Ricardo Griggs (Gwynn Park) Mchargh has run 6.39

300m Dash- Shane King (Oakland Mills) has run 34.91 earlier this season. The record is 34.79 which was set by Marcell Preston (Largo) in 2014.

4x200 Relay - Oakland Mills has run under the state record earlier this year. They ran 1:29.74 at the Kevin Dare Invitational. Largo currently has the record of 1:30.74 set in 2017. The Scorpains will also be eyeing the overall state record of 1:28.99 set by Westlake in 2008.

3A Boys

55m Dash - Daysen Shell (Milford Mill) is only .06 seconds away from Anthony Smith's (Huntingtown) 2020 record of 6.36

800m -  Jordan Leon's (Milford Mill) record of 1:56.14 might be in jeopardy. While Colin Abrams (Magruder) has only run 1:57 this year, he ran 1:52 last year. Also, Sofiane Compaorg (Springbrook) has also run 1:57 this season.

1600 - Antonio Camacho Bucks (Centennial) has an excellent chance to break Chris Heydrick's (River Hill) record of 4:15. He also has a chance to take down the overall state record of 4:14 ran by Vincent Ciattei in 2013.

4x400 Relay - Mervo has run 3:26.6 this year, about a second off the record of 3:25.3 run by Westlake. It's always a little tougher running a fast 4x400 at the end of a 1-day meet, but it will be an exciting way to finish!

4A Boys

300m - Joseph DeRosier (Old Mill) has run 34.6 earlier this season. The current record is 34.35 set by Afolabi Aromire (CH Flowers) in 2005.
