MPSSAA Outdoor State Meet Records Watch: Girls

There are 10 State classifications that could be broken this weekend. We take a look at all of those records in jeopardy and discuss which athletes have a chance of breaking them! Read all about it below!

Overall Girl State Records in Jeopardy

Pole Vault - 12-04 - Jackie McNulty (Oakdale) in 2015

There is really only 1 state record that looks like it might go down and that's Pole Vault. The current record is 12-4 and there are 3 girls who have a decent chance at it. Ava Allen (Middletown) has cleared 13-0 this season, Elisa Ramos (Thomas Johnson) cleared 12-9.5 at Regionals, and Sarah Gassman (Westminster) has cleared 12-9.5 this season. Gassman and Ramos will get the benefit of competing against each other at state, while Allen will be on her own. Either way, we are looking forward to seeing if one of them (or all of them) takes this record down!

1A Girl State Records in Jeopardy

800m - Mary Delaney (Mountain Ridge) broke the Indoor 800-meter state record and she will look to do the same outdoors. Delaney has run 2:17 this outdoor season but ran 2:15 indoors. Also, I wouldn't count out Lydia Nelson from Northern Garrett who has run 2:19 this season. Rebeka Holt (Western STES) holds the current record at 2:15.62 in 2012

3200m - Caroline Matthews has already equaled the state record this season. The record was set by Korin Miller (Rising Sun) at 11:06.29 in 1998. Matthews has run 11:06 this season. She will have some company with her as Mary Delaney (Mountain Ridge) surprised some people as she won the 1A West Regional 3200, with a time of 11:08, beating Matthews who ran 11:12. There is a great chance that the winner of the 1A 3200 will own the state record as well!

Shot Put - Brandi Gochenauer (Alleghany) has an excellent chance of breaking this record. The current record is held by Courtney Hawkins (Henry E Lackey) who threw 41-03 in 2018. Gochenauer has thrown 40-7.5 earlier this year.

2A Girl State Records in Jeopardy

100m - Tressia Davis (Friendly) has run under 12.10 seconds and if the conditions are right, should be able to make a run at this record. The current record is 11.74 by Kisha Jett (Hammond) in 1994.

4x100 Relay - Oakland Mills will be trying to break their own state record of 48.25 that they set in 2016. They have run 48.27 this year so that is definitely in reach!

4x200 Relay - New Town High School has run 1:42 this year and Oakland Mills has run 1:43. Both teams have the pieces to make a run at the current record of 1:41.36 set by (Harford Tech) in 2019

Pole Vault - Ava Allen (Middletown) has cleared 13-0 feet this season and will be going for the 2A record, which is also the overall state record. She has an excellent chance of doing so. The current state record is 12-04 set by Jackie McNulty (Oakdale) in 2015.

3A Girl State Records in Jeopardy

Pole Vault - Elisa Ramos (Thomas Johnson) set the state record last year and has the ability to break it again as she has cleared 12-9.5 this season, however, she will have tough competition in Sarah Gassman (Westminster) who has cleared 13-0 this season. Ramos has the record at 12-3

4A Girl State Records in Jeopardy

Pole Vault - There are not many records in the 4A Classifcation that look to be in Jeopardy however Pole Vault may be one that's close. Carson Boteler (Broadneck) and Bailey Smith (Urbana) have both cleared over 11-0 this season and will be trying to break the record of 12-01 set by Megan Wall (Dulaney) in 2011.
