The Black and Gold team race looks like it will be a great one to watch as 6 of the top 15 teams in Maryland will be competing. Hereford will come in as the slight favorite led by Sylvia Snider and Rebekka Hillier. Both girls have the potential to place top 5. Ridley Lentz and Addie Smith have also stepped up well for the Bulls this season as the #3 and 4 runners as they have both run under 20:30 this season. 

After Hereford, any team can make a claim for 2nd place. Walt Whitman ran well at Bull Run placing 5th and having Katie Greenwald run is a huge boost for them. McDonogh also ran well at Bull Run led by Senior Mary Gorsky. Georgetown Visitation is coming from DC but is bringing with them one of the top freshmen in the area Abigail Anstett. They have a strong team and will battle for a top 3 finish.

Girls Black and Gold Individual Preview

The individual battle for the Black and Gold race is going to be one that we hopefully see for the next 4 years. Three of the top 4 entries are freshmen. Claire Sivitz (Howard), Katherine Morey (Winston Churchill), and Abigail Anstett (Georgetown Visitation) all have had incredible starts to thier freshman season and any of them could take home top honors at MDXC. All three girls have run 18:45 or faster this year and will hopefully set the pace for a great race.

Sylvia Snider will also be near the front back and in contention for the win. Both she and her fellow teammate, Rebekka Hillier, have looked very strong this season and have helped the Bulls to place high at all the meets they have attended this year. 

Other runners to keep an eye on include Kiley Mann (Howard), Grace Finnegan (Richard Montgomery), and Lauren Stine (North Hagerstown). Finnegan is coming off winning the Large school division at Bull Run and looked really strong doing so. Stine has not raced a ton of Invites this season but looked strong in the ones she has run. She also has outstanding track PRs of 5:06 and 10:54. 

There are 18 girls who have run under 20 minutes this year for 3 miles or 5k, if the weather cooperates this could be a really fast race to watch!
