We're on to day 2 of 3 of adidas Indoor Track Nationals weekend as the middle and high school indoor track & field season comes to a conclusion!  Athletes from all over the United States and Canada head to the Virginia Beach Sports Center in what will be some incredible action over Friday through Sunday!  We will mention school names below, but all schools are competing unattached or as a club team.

Four divisions will compete with Championship being the top division, followed by National Elite, Freshman and Middle School divisions.

Boys 4x400m Championship

Carolina Track Hawks (Raleigh, NC) closed out the competition for the 2025 adidas Track Nationals running 3:14.51.  Derrick Hankins (Garner), Joshua Cooper (Willow Springs), Anthony Boykin (Enloe) and Dominic Harper (Garner) would run splits of 49.95, 48.45, 48.61 and 47.51 over the third heat to blow away the field.  Louisville Xtreme ran 3:19.64 in Heat 2 of 3 in a close race with Xceleration Nation to finish 2nd and 3rd.

Girls 4x400m Championship

Spire Academy (OH) won the Girls 4x400m to close out the meet in 3:51.83.  BrookeLane Striders (MD) ran a 3:55.57 in the first heat to set the standard that only Spire was able to surpass in the final heat. Spire's team of McIntyre, Thomas, Howell and Rock ran splits of 1:00.41, 55.66, 1:00.75 and 55.02 

Girls Long Jump Championship

D'Anna Cotton (Cummings, NC) finished 2nd in both the 60m Hurdles and Triple Jump, but the adidas Track Nationals title would not evade her in the Long Jump with a clearance of 20-1.25.  Cotton held a best mark of 18-11 in the competition through the prelims, but Tori Goodson (Atlee, VA) would jump 19-3.25 on her fourth attempt.  With the pressure on, Cotton would jump 19-6.5 and 20-1.25 on her final two jumps to claim the title.

Boys Championship Long Jump

Lucas Polkinghorn (Maumee, OH) won the Long Jump with a 22-11.75 off his first attempt that stood throughout the competition. It was a close competition with 6 boys all in the 20 foot zone each of which capable of a winning jump over the final 5 attempts.  Kelan McCullough (Spire Academy, OH) would post a 22-5.5 on his second attempt, and Devin Roose (Patrick Henry, VA) would jump 22-4 on his final attempt which would be good for 2nd and 3rd behind Polkinghorn.

Boys Championship 200m

In one of the most exciting races of the weekend, Dominic Harper (Garner, NC) ran a new Meet Record, High School Facility Record, and tied the North Carolina Indoor State Record running 20.94.  Terrance Mahomes (West Orange, NJ) set the standard in the first of two heats running 21.38 which would hold for second overall.  Harper held an indoor best of 21.24 heading into adidas Track Nationals.

Girls Championship 200m

Kadia Rock (Spire Academy, OH) broke 24 seconds to win the Championship 200m in 23.94 from Heat 2 of 2.  Rock was the fastest qualifier out of today' prelims running 24.05.  She would beat Kindal Smith (Gray's Creek, NC) who ran 24.24 and Anyeh Bronson (NC Flight Club, NC) who ran 24.46.

Boys Championship Mile

Caleb Ten Pas, (Des Moines Christian, IA) won the 800m yesterday in 1:51 out of the slower of the two Championship sections and was back on the track today to challenge for the Mile title.  Ten Pas was not messing around going to the front immediately and having nearly 3 seconds on the field through 809m in 2:04.74.  Ten Pas would extend his lead to 5 seconds over the next 400m and bring home the win in a 4:09.00 to break NCAA Mile Record Holder Ethan Strand's Meet Record.  Aidan Kneeland (WV) would just hold off Noah Guerrero (Croatan, NC) in 4:12.17 for 2nd place.

Girls Championship Mile

Jessica Abbott (Manalapan, NJ) won a tight battle all the way through in the Girls Mile in 5:03.31.  The top 7 girls finished within 4 seconds of each other and were back and forth throughout the race until the final 200m.  Abbott was able to close the quickest in 34.27 for the final 200m with Georgy Helmers (EE Smith, NC) just on her heels to take 2nd in 5:03.96 just ahead of Jordyn Brown 

Boys Championship 1600m Sprint Medley Relay

Iona Preparatory School (NY) won the Boys 1600m Sprint Medley Relay in 3:31.12 by 3 seconds over the field.  They'd hold over a 5 second lead going into anchor leg and would bring in home all alone in 1:57.38 holding off a 1:55.49 anchor from St. Vincent Pallotti HS (MD) who ran 3:36.64 to finish 2nd.

Girls Championship 1600m Sprint Medley Relay

Natalie Dumas brought it home on the 800m leg for Eastern Regional (NJ) who got the baton behind Ursuline School (NY).  Ursuline School were at 1:51.87 going into anchor leg with Eastern Regional at 1:52.71.  Ursuline's anchor would bring it home in a strong 2:09.18, but could not deny Dumas and Eastern Regional who split a 2:07.78 to run 4:00.48 to Ursuline's 4:01.04.  Both schools broke the previous meet record of 4:01.39 by Motor City Track Club (MI) in 2021.

Girls Championship Pentathlon

Michailyn Rose (FIA Ambassadors, VA), younger sister of NCAA 800m Champion from LSU Michaele Rose, won the Pentathlon by 304 points ahead of Kenzie Pruett (BC Athletics, AR) scoring 3572 points.  Rose opened the day with a 9.40 in the 60m Hurdles and followed it up with a 5-5.75 High Jump.  She's throw 24-11.75 in the Shot Put then jump 17-8.25 in the Long Jump.  She'd round out her day in her fifth attempt running a 2:15.64 over 10 seconds better than the rest of the field.

Girls Championship Pole Vault

Hannah Grace (Coastal Christian, NC) secured the win after clearing 13-9.25 as Veronica Vacca (Mt. Saint Joseph's, PA) missed out after both cleared 13-3.25.  Grace held the US#1 ranking of 14-6 coming into the event and progressed to 14-3.25 which she cleared on her final attempt before missing after three solid attempts at 14-7.  Her 14-3.25 winning mark will break Vacca's 14-1 Meet Record from last years event.

Girls Championship Shot Put

Natalie Brown (Weddington, NC) came back from a strong showing in the Weight Throw yesterday with a third place finish to win a good contest in the Shot Put.  Brown threw a new Meet Record of 46-5.75 on her first attempt to blow away the competition.  Jane Musengwa (Bentonville, AR) took 2nd two feet behind with a best of 44-5.25 on her second attempt.

Boys Championship 60m Dash Finals

Jordan Gross (Butler, OH) pulled away from the field in the 60m Finals running 6.77, .09 seconds faster than his OATCCC D2 Runner-Up finish which was his previous personal best.  Carson Edwards (The Field School, OH) took 2nd place running 6.83.

Girls Championship 60m Dash Finals

We saw a tight battle between four girls finishing within .04 seconds of each other as Zyon Alston (Hillside, NC) took the win in 7.49 seconds over Te'Aira Branham-Patrick (Wayne, OH) just behind in 7.50 seconds.  Anyeh Bronson (NC Flight Club, NC) just finished ahead of Kendall Hicks (Butler, NC) by .008 seconds as both girls ran 7.53 to finish third and fourth respectively.

Boys Championship 60m Hurdle Finals

Isaiah Washington (Prince George, VA) won a tight battle in the finals with Chayse Lipscomb (Fairfield Union, OH) as the two seniors ran 7.82 to 7.86.  Sawyer Boyd (Cleveland, TN) just finished ahead of Dylan Cope (AL) in 8.02 to 8.03 in a battle for third.

Girls Championship 60m Hurdle Finals

Tori Goodson (Atlee, VA) won the 60m Hurdle Finals over North Carolina state championships D'Anna Cotton (Cummings, NC) and Jayda Lewis (Corvian Community, NC) in 8.43 to Cotton and Lewis' 8.55 and 8.57.

Boys Championship Shot Put

Chance Stuart (Norfolk Academy) won a tight battle in the Shot Put throwing 58-9.5 hold off Alexander Johnson (Essex HS, ) who challenged late with throws of 58-4.75 and 58-1.25 on his final two throws to finish 2nd.  Stuart threw a 58-9.5 on his third attempt of the competition which would be good enough to withstand the field through the Finals.

Boys Championship 4x800m Finals

Lafayette HS (VA) team of Koval, Cox, Cyrus and Rutherford won the 4x800m in 8:03.97 running 2:01, 2:01, 2:02 and 1:59 over the three legals.  Louisville Xtreme (KY) lead through 2 legs are were just behind them going into anchor leg before Lafayette was able to pull away.

Girls Championship 4x800m Finals

Monacan High School's (VA) team of Bay, Defazio, Junkermann and Montgomery lead wire to wire in the Championship 4x800m running 9:38.93.  They opened up with a 2:21.99 leg and closed with a 2:20.01 to win by 7 seconds over Vineland HS (NJ).

Boys Championship One Mile Race Walk

Matthew Wombacker (Bainbridge-Guilford, NY) dominated the competition walking a 7:53.88 to win by a wide margin!

Girls Championship One Mile Race Walk

Summer Familio (Commick, NY) led wire to wire in the Girls Race Walk to kick off Day 3.  She was off to a fast pace early with 52.11 and 54.60 first two 200m laps.  She slowed to just be over 1 minute for the next five laps before picking up the pace over the final 200m in 54.42 to finish in 7:51.94 to break Ruby Ray's Meet Record from 2023 of 8:00.94.
