State Meet shows much promise for the state

The 2004 season showed that the state of Maryland is still on the rise. The girls are gaining national recognition with the rankings of C. Milton Wright and Eleanor Roosevelt. The boys this year showed great depth.

To me the most impressive aspect of the season was the number of young runners making names for themselves. Sophmores and freshman dominated a bunch of the meets this season. You have the Sinclair twins, Allison Smith, Allison Barnes, Lauren Childs, and others leading the sophmore girls. Matt Centrowitz and Dwight Parker leading the sophmore boys. Newcomers included Veronica Salcido, Dominique Lockhardt, Liya Kasmova, Kaitlyn Dillow and Sara Bailey.

The hope is now to build on the success and hope that the state continues to improve. For those seniors who have run in their last state championships thanks for all the memories. Andrew Jesien, Will Eden, Kelli Buck, Matt Logie, Ricky Flynn, Tristam Thomas, the Sullivan twins and Dan Dewitt you all will be missed. Good luck with the rest of the year. I can tell this will be a state meet that I will never forget.
