Nike Team Nationals on Saturday

For many Marylander\'s their cross country season has come to end. For 8 lucky young ladies from Harford County there season has one race left. The Harford Harriers XC Club as they are known will race at the Nike Team Nationals on Saturday. The girls are very excited and have continued to train after taking a short break right after the state xc meet. Allison Barnes the teams #1 runner has just about fully recovered from an ankle injury that she suffered after collapsing at the state meet. She has been running, and says she will be ready to go on Sat. The rest of the girls have been training and looking very good in practice. Rumor has it they were doing 400 meter repeats in under 80 secs. last week. The season has become very long remember we started back on Aug. 14th.

The team will fly out of Baltimore on Thursday morning at 6 am. To me this maybe the biggest hurdle, getting 8 teenagers to do anything at 4 am is difficult. The team is scheduled to race at 10:30 on Saturday. For their full schedule of events you can go to www.niketeamnationals.com The team has a schedule of events that keeps them busy the entire time. Many of the girls parents and teammates are making the trip with them. The girls will be provided uniforms, warm-ups, and I have heard maybe even a pair of xc spikes.

I will try and post or email daily some the activities that the girls are doing, as many of you know I will not be coaching at this meet. I am a spectator only. I am sure it will be an enjoyable time. If we are lucky I think they can beat the Saratoga team from NY (ha ha). Pictures will be taken and posted as soon as I can.

Good luck to Allison Barnes (soph), Kelli Buck (senior), Sara Bailey (fresh), Megan Ravenscraft (jun), Danielle Burcham (jun), Leah Estremera (senior), Lindsay Lippencott (fresh), and Maggie Morey (jun). Enjoy this event and bring back many stories to tell your fellow runners.
