The Heights secured its second one-point championship victory in less than two weeks, while Good Counsel's Amelia Avila delivered a dominant 17:08 performance at the Maryland Private School State Championships.
2A Boys: The Heights Does It Again

The final result was a 63–64 victory for The Heights, with Calvert Hall College finishing third at 78 points.
The championship came just 12 days after The Heights defeated St. John's College by one point at the October 24 WCAC Championships.
In that race, the Cavaliers prevailed 39–40 despite St. John's recording a slightly faster average time among its scoring five runners.
Now, two championship meets against two different opponents have produced the same outcome.
For The Heights, which entered this championship stretch without a varsity WCAC title in school history, the two victories have made for a memorable postseason.
2A Girls: Avila Dominates as Good Counsel Claims Team Title
Our Lady of Good Counsel senior Amelia Avila delivered the fastest girls' performance of the championship, winning the 2A 5K in 17:08.3.
Avila finished more than a minute ahead of Stone Ridge Sacred Heart sophomore Grace Love, who placed second in 18:23.1.

Mount de Sales made a strong challenge behind Smith's fourth-place finish and Eva Bacinski's eighth-place performance in 19:16.8.
Stone Ridge also demonstrated impressive front-running strength, placing Love, Meth, and Michaela Perna among the first 13 finishers.
Ultimately, Good Counsel's combination of Avila's individual victory and contributions throughout its scoring five proved decisive.

Montgomery County Championships: The Heights and Good Counsel Add Titles

The Heights claimed the boys' Montgomery County championship with 43 points, narrowly defeating Bullis, which finished with 44.
Georgetown Prep placed third with 91 points.
