Announcement

Barnhart Cross Country Invitational, September 10, 2011

Attention coaches and athletic directors:

The 29th Annual Richard Barnhart Memorial Cross Country Invitational is quickly approaching on Saturday, September 10th, 2011.

We have nearly a full field (20 teams), but do have a few openings. If you have yet to do so, please contact me via e-mail to verify your participation as soon as possible.

In addition, I wanted to give you an update on registration. As you may be aware, Running Maryland, has successfully started up and begun to operate a very professional race management system. They have the latest in state-of-the-art equipment. Brad Jaeger will be working with his staff to score the race on the 10th. Therefore, we will be entering our entries online at www.runningmaryland.com The online entries have yet to open, however will open in the coming days.

Entries should be separated by Varsity (7 athletes per gender), JV runners in 9th or 10th grade only (10 athletes per gender) and Open race (unlimited entries). When the page is up and operational, I will contact all of you with final details.

Also, please be reminded to submit your race applications to your school treasurer, etc so that you are able to mail your entry fee check in a timely manner. Please be prompt with this. If it is necessary for you to hand carry your check to us the day of the race, please contact me in advance.

Finally, we have decided to "pilot" a youth XC race in advance of the Varsity races on the 10th in conjunction with Cockeysville Rec Council. This race is only open to youth runners ages 8-13, and they CANNOT be a representative of your team. The race will be run at 9:00 a.m. on the 10th over a 1..5 mile cross country course. Entry fee will be $5, and entries will be accepted on the morning of the race. The Cockeysville Rec Council is finalizing a paper entry form, and when completed I will pass on to all of you. Eligible participants may be siblings of your athletes, etc.

Once again I am excited to embark on another cross country season, and am hopeful for competitive races to start the season on the 10th.

Best wishes in the opening days of practice,

Chad Boyle
