4A Boys Team Champions - Northwest
The Northwest boys became the first team to win 4 straight titles in 4A led by senior Josh Netterville winning 2 individual titles in the sprints with a 6.40 clocking in 55 meter dash finals and 34.91 victory in the 300 meter dash. Netterville also anchored the Northwest boys to a come from behind win in the 4x200 meter relay (1:31.12). Netterville also moved their 4x400 meter relay up to a 4th place finish to finish out the meet.
Distance runner and junior Chase Osborne was the next star performer for the Northwest boys as he not only ran on Northwest's third place 4x800 meter relay (8:16) and picked up a point in the 1600 meter run (9th, 4:37), but summoned the energy to win the 4A boys 800 meter title in his third race of the day in a swift winning time of 1:57.93.
The team title was never in doubt for the Jaguars this year after being challenged to very end last year by CH Flowers as their total team haul of 81 points put them well ahead of the second place squad Dulaney with 28 points.
Other key contributions came with a surprising runner-up finish by Anthony Woods to go 1-2 with teammate Netterville in the 55 meter dash finals, while a pair of scorers in two of the three field events also helped their team cause early. Divinus Muteba cleared 6'4" for third in the high jump, while teammate Robert Gicheru (8th in 55 meter hurdles) finished 6th in the competition. Rounding out the well rounded Northwest team's scoring was two throwers Deandra Jules (5th) and Ryan Lam (7th) placing in the shot put.
