MD #1 Performances, 2017 vs. 2018: Boys Sprints

Northeast's Davon Carroll has captured three state titles over the past two seasons. Does anybody in the 3A classification have what it takes to take him down in the 100 or 200? (Photo by Craig Amoss)

Five of last year's top ten finishers in the 200 - including the top three and four of the top six - will be back for 2018. Bullis' Ashton Allen won the AAU National Club Championship and was the fastest freshman in the country in the 200. Of all the returners on the list, Largo's Aaron Hackett posted the fastest 300 meter dash time this winter (34.83, third in the state). He and Northeast's Davon Carroll were state champions in the event this winter.

Others to watch: Eric Allen, Jr. is one of the top ten returners in the event and may be the favorite to finish the spring as Maryland's #1 200 meter performer; his 32.84 300 this winter was the second-fastest in the country and easily the best in Maryland; his 20.91 time in the 200 was the fastest mark in the country this winter; four more boys - Stewart, Nick Wilson, Hackett and Ashton Allen - ran under 22 seconds in the 200 this past indoor season.
