The Boonsboro Girls: The Boonsboro girls have a chance to score a lot of points at the state championships. Like, a lot of points. They're led by their standout distance runner Haley Wright, who swept the 800, 1600, and 3200 at the 1A West Regional Championships. She leads all 1A girls this season in each event by a comfortable margin, and it might not be a question of if she wins all three races, but instead the margin she wins them by. If Wright can capture 30 points in the three distance events it will go a long way to Boonsboro's quest for a state championship.
But Boonsboro's dominance goes much farther than that. They swept all three relays at the 1A West Regional Championships, and are in the top two among 1A girls teams in all three this season. Camryn Harper and Malia Simpson finished 1-2 in the 500 at the regional championships and could go 1-2 at the state championships as well. But what makes Boonsboro so dangerous - especially in the 1A classification - is their depth. They qualified at least one competitor in every single event, and two in six events. They could end up scoring in every single event, which is a great recipe for team success.
