The indoor state meet race down to a thrilling finish between eventual champions South Carroll and Hereford. Those two teams should be in contention again for the outdoor title with South Carroll's 9:51 season best and Hereford's 9:54 season best. South Carroll ran 9:45.44 indoors to win the state title indoors over Hereford at 9:45.98. If neither team has loaded up their relay since, they will on Thursday at Morgan State University.
However, South Carroll was defeated by not, but two other schools at the 2A West Regional with the Catoctin girls posting the fastest time of the spring for 2A in the 4x800 at 9:41.82, while Century finished second in 9:48.05. A total of 5 teams went under 10 minutes in a very deep 2A West Regional, so expect that region to be well represented in the state race as well.
North Caroline and Kent Island also might get into the mix after those two teams had a close race with each other around 10 minutes at the 2A East Regional.
South Carroll might have the fastest anchor leg of them all in sophomore Allison Zolkiewicz, who has run 2:19 in the open 800, while Hereford senior Alicia Kozlowski is coming off a 2:21 victory at the 2A North Regional. South Carroll has 3 girls who have run 2:25 or faster this spring with Zolkiewicz, Jamie Anderson (2:22), and Erin Langille (2:25).
