Smithsburg rising senior Will Merritt is coming off a breakout year which started with claiming the MPSSAA 1A state cross country title last November at Hereford. He followed up that initial state championship with four more individual titles on the track with a pair of victories indoors and outdoors in the 1600 and 3200 meter run. He will be looking to duplicate that success in all 3 seasons for his senior season, while also looking to prove himself among the state's elite regardless of classification after posting a sub 4:20 1600 and sub 9:40 3200 this past spring.
