Top Maryland Athletes To Watch At This Weekend's Virginia Showcase

Cameron Hinton (Franklin) 300, 500

Hinton has transitioned very well from Maryvale Prep to Franklin this season, retaining her status as one of the top mid-distance runners in her class and in the state of Maryland. Hinton surpassed her teammate Nyjari McNeil on the Maryland leaderboard in the 500 when she dropped a season-best 1:15.61 at the F.I.T. Invitational. Hinton will be tasked with defending her top Maryland mark against Masai Russell and others this weekend.

Hinton also ran a personal best of 39.52 in the 300 earlier this winter at the Bishop Loughlin Games, good for a MD #2 mark (behind Russell). The 300 is by far the most loaded event this weekend when it comes to Maryland runners at the Virginia Showcase and Hinton will be just one of many girls looking for the first sub-39 of the season.
