The starting line at Centennial High School is going to be considerably less crowded at the 3A East regional meet next fall. Four teams are out, including the cross country juggernaut River Hill. The boys have won three straight state titles and the girls picked one up in 2014, so nobody in the region is going to be too sad to see them go. Both Glenelg and Wilde Lake take some talented runners with them as well, especially on the girls' side, which could open spots for more individual qualifiers in 2017.
The lone addition to the region will be Parkside who will join James M. Bennett and Stephen Decatur in making the long trip across the Bay for their regional race. Neither the girls nor the guys sent anyone to the state
meet last season and they may find it difficult again now that they will have moved up a classification.
