Dozen Girls To Watch At 2018 MPSSAA State Championships

Nyjari McNeil (Franklin)

Quite possibly the biggest national star of the 2018 Maryland State Meet, Franklin senior Nyjari McNeil is the state leader in both the 400 (54.96) and 800 (2:09.56) looking to lead her team as well to the 3A state team title.

McNeil has been consistently fast in the 800 this season running 2:10 in 3 straight meets before breaking thru with the sub 2:10 performance last week at her regional meet following a 54.96 season best 400 as well.

A total of 11 individual state titles have been earned by McNeil as well as numerous relay titles as well with her Franklin teammates. For the third straight year at the outdoor state meet, the San Diego State commit McNeil is looking to successfully double with victories in both the 400 and 800.

Another goal on McNeil's mind might be the state meet record of 2:11.00 set all the way back in 1982 by Donna Neale of Oakland Mills. She showed just last week at the regional meet that she is capable of running under the time doubling back from a hard 400.
