It may be the start of August, but Bel Air's Kieran McDermott is still racing and racing well. McDermott won the AAU Junior Olympic games national title in the 17-18 year old age group for the 1500 meter run on Tuesday in Des Moines, Iowa with a time of 3:58.30. It was a decisive win for McDermott as he blew the field by a 7 second margin of victory.
McDermott's high school season was already storybook with the ending after winning the Penn Relays mile, anchoring his 4x800 to a state title with a 1:49 split, breaking the state meet record in the 800, and finishing 3rd at New Balance Outdoor Nationals 800 in a 1:49.80 PR. He is simply adding a few more bonus chapters with his races this week at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
The Princeton University bound McDermott still has the 400 and 800 left this week in Iowa. All of his races can watch live as well as archived race videos can be viewed on Flotrack.com.
