As the decade in indoor track comes to a close we are going to rank the top 500 athletes in every event, starting with the 500 meter dash! Largo's Marcelle Preston was one of just two boys in the state of Maryland to run under 1:04 in the 500 dash going back to the 2011 season. He ran his personal-best 1:03.93 on a banked track to win the 2014 Virginia Tech High School Invitational. Preston won five individual state titles at Largo and was also the 2011 New Balance Indoor Nationals freshman 400 champion while competing at Riverdale Baptist High School.

The fastest 500 meter race of the decade by a Maryland runner also took place at the Virginia Tech Invitational just two years prior. Wise's Champ Page ran 1:03.71 to beat out Laurel's Christian White, whose 1:04.59 time also ranks among the top ten of the decade. Watch the video their historic battle down in Blacksburg HERE.
