4A Regions
4A West
Seneca Valley moves up from 2A West to 4A West with its recent capacity expansion, while Albert Einstein and Wheaton move from 4A West to 4A North. The biggest change is the move from 13 to 12 teams, which will bump the number of state qualifying teams from seven down to six in one of the state's deepest regions.
4A North
The region loses swaps out Springbrook for Blake and also receives Einstein and Wheaton, making it 4A's largest region and a majority-Montgomery County region. In contrast to the 4A West region, 4A North moves from 12 to 13 teams, opening up another state qualifying spot.
4A South
Nothing changes in the PG County-only 4A South.
4A East
Gone are the defending 4A girls state champions from Howard, and returning to the region after a two-year hiatus is North Point, keeping the team total at 11. In a couple of years Crofton High School may be set to join the 4A East region as well.
