The Ed Bowie Classic has been around for exactly a decade after starting up in the 2010-11 indoor season. Since then it has served as one of Maryland's premier early-season meets, often attracting more than 40 teams and some of the top athletes in the state making their season debuts.

Back in December 2017, Bishop McNamara senior Taylor Grimes took a crack at the standing meet record in the 55 meter hurdles set just the year before by Henry E. Lackey's Sydney Williams. She cut it as close as possible, breaking Williams' mark by just one hundredth of a second in the finals. However, her 8.21 time would also be the slowest time she would record in the event for the rest of the year as she would go on to run 7.89 - Maryland's fourth-fastest time since 2006 - at the Virginia Showcase.
