Spring 2021 Sports Schedules: XC (March) - XC (April) - Outdoor Track

County and Conference XC Previews Hub

Across the state, local school systems are beginning in-person sports (in many cases, for the first time in a full calendar year). While the future of the rest of the 2020-21 competitive year is still very much in question, many systems have begun the process of scheduling meets throughout March and April.

Most systems will be holding a competitive fall sports (XC) season through mid-April before transitioning into spring sports (outdoor track). These cross country seasons will usually consist of small, localized meets; for example, Montgomery County (25 schools) is holding head-to-head meets, while Howard County (12 schools) is holding two weekly league meets featuring six teams at a time.

Some systems, such as Howard and Frederick counties, are planning on holding a county championship meet later in the season before transitioning to outdoor track.

Meanwhile, two systems - Washington County and the MIAA - have already completed their 2020-21 cross country season during the fall. Currently, Washington County teams are holding their indoor season (one of the only systems that will hold a competitive indoor season) at Hagerstown Community College. Meanwhile, the MIAA will begin holding outdoor track dual meets beginning at the end of March and running through the middle of May.

The current schedule (and the limitations posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic) means that no  invitationals, regionals or state meets are currently scheduled. MileSplit will try to cover as many of the localized competitions throughout the spring as we are allowed and able.

Note: Our calendar is currently marking all XC meets taking place before April 1st as part of the 2020 XC season and all XC meets taking place on or after April 1st as part of the 2021 XC season. The issue will be resolved and all XC meets taking place during the 2020-21 school year will fall under the 2020 XC season.
