On the boy's side, Severna Park continues to demonstrate their distance dominance as they kicked off the meet with a win in the 4x800m followed closely by Walt Whitman in 2nd place. Nick Spikes of Paint Branch took home the first sprint win of the meet in the 300m pulling away narrowly from Langston Major of Winston Churchill and Kevin Collins of North Point. In the 1600m, Luke Coffin of Annapolis continued his hot streak from cross country by taking home a win in the 1600m with a quick time of 4:26, winning by almost 2 seconds. Coming back from a 5th place finish in the 300m, Jack Debaugh of Severna Park got his revenge and took home a big win in the 500m with a time of 1:09.82. Gavin Schaffer of Dulaney put down what might have been the most dominant win of the day as he swept the 55mh by almost a full second. After winning the 55m prelims, Kevin Collins came back and repeated his performance in the finals for his first win of the state championships. Tucker Sangster has been on a roll throughout the season and got to claim another big victory with a win in the 3200m in a tight battle with Jackson Megary of Walt Whitman. The 4x200m was claimed by the Blair boys as Micah McKenzie doubled back after a big 2nd place finish in the 500m. At 800m, Tyler Dailey of Dulaney continues the Dailey family legacy with a big win in the 800m after barely pulling away from Lamar Wilson of Northwood. Dailey doubled back quickly however as he and his 4x400m squad were able to close off the meet and claim the state title only a couple of minutes after the 800m. Onto the field events, the shot put was won handily by Ayden Wheless of Broadneck over 5 feet over 2nd place, while the high jump was dominated once again by Gavin Shaffer. The team battle was tight between Severna Park and Dulaney but it was ultimately 10 points that separated the state champs, Severna Park, from second place Dulaney in an amazing team battle.
